Stony Open Gardens

Stony Open Gardens will be back on 24th & 25th June 2017.

History in brief:

Stony Stratford Open Gardens started in 2003 as the brainchild of Sheila Plater, in memory of her gardening friend who had died of cancer. Over 15 gardens opened and in excess of £13,000 was raised for Willen Hospice. It brought the townsfolk together in a very cheerful and happy way. It was decided to hold the event every two years thereafter. Following Sheila’s sad death, her daughters organised the 2005 event and, in Sheila’s memory, a number of keen gardeners and community minded supporters have teamed up to keep Stony Open Gardens going ever since.

Stony Open Gardens   - A great weekend in June – 24/25 June 2017

Where else can you support our own Willen Hospice, view a rich variety of gardens and buildings, meet the gardeners, enjoy art and music and tea and cakes, but in Stony Stratford?

Put 24 and 25 June 2017 in the diary now. The event runs from 12 noon to 5pm on both days and you can dip in and out at your own pace. In addition to the gardens and artists and musicians in the gardens, the Milton Keynes Society of Artists will be exhibiting in the Swinfen Harris Hall. The £5 adult ticket (children under 14 are admitted free) is valid all weekend and all the money goes to Willen Hospice.

Details of the gardens and the other attractions will be available in March 2017 and tickets will go on sale in early May.

This event supports MK50.

Can you help?

Perhaps you could open your garden or help with serving refreshments, selling entry or raffle tickets, contributing to the art and music or suggesting contributions?

The event has been held every two years since 2003 and provides important support for Willen Hospice as well as a thoroughly enjoyable community event. Gardeners do not need to worry too much about being on show as their commitment is hugely valued by everyone. Many are keen to participate again and if you would like to join us please get in touch with Liz Gifford via
